We are the Kentucky Association of Plumbing Heating Cooling Contractors, with over 800 contractor and industry members. As a group we are able to provide our members with quality education, resources, knowledge of upcoming laws, regulations and mandates, and provide employer and employee benefits to give them the ability to be the best at what they do.

We strongly encourage you, prior to picking a contractor, to view our pages that we have for public awareness. When choosing a contractor make sure they are licensed by the state and are in good standing. You can verify the contractor as well as the technicians at License Check 

• If the contractor refuses to provide you their license information find someone else.

• Whenever possible get at least three bids on the work you are wanting done, ask for references and check those references before committing to a contractor.

MYTH

A BUSINESS LICENSE IS THE SAME THING.

FACT

A BUSINESS LICENSE IS A REGISTRATION FROM A CITY OR COUNTY MOST LIKELY TO ENSURE TAXES ARE BEING PAID. VERY SELDOM ARE QUALIFICATIONS OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR THIS LICENSE.

SO WHAT IF THEY DON’T HAVE A LICENSE, THEY HAVE INSURANCE, SO I AM PROTECTED.

FACT

ANY INDIVIDUAL CAN PURCHASE A LIABILITY INSURANCE POLICY, HOWEVER MOST POLICIES HAVE CONDITIONS THAT ONLY HONOR CLAIMS PROVIDED THE POLICY HOLDER IS WITHIN THE LAW, NOT HAVING A LICENSE WOULD BE OUTSIDE THE LAW AND COULD VOID ANY CLAIM ON DAMAGE TO YOUR PROPERTY.
